Each of them also figures the other is maybe partly magic, like maybe he'll vanish if they're not careful, so they are. Careful, and quiet, and they drink cold water from canteens and glance at each other between swallows at the timed breaks on their march. When the break is over, Bucky walks next to Steve each time (of course he does), and their elbows brush every few minutes for the next couple of hours before they stop again. Short, sweet post-rescue Steve/Bucky in which they do a lot of stoic pining in a very small amount of time. <3
