She sighs and reaches across the table to pull the carrots and the knife toward her. The knife feels right in her hand, another kind of dancing when she lets herself feel the rhythm of it. When she looks back at Mal, there's a pile of finely chopped carrot in front of her, and he's staring at her, mouth open. Wonderful Mal and River voices, as River begins to fit herself into the crew after Ariel.

After Sirius sent Snivellus down the Willow, James didn't talk to him for a week. Sirius thought this was particularly unfair, considering that he had a month's worth of detention and meanwhile Professor Dumbledore was acting like the sun shone out of James' arse. He started saying so, loudly, until James hauled off and hexed him. The shouting match that followed happened with legumes growing out of Sirius' ears. And after that everything was back to normal between them.

Remus, on the other hand, acted like nothing had happened at all, and that was much worse. Nicely done prank-aftermath story.

Eric would rather spend an afternoon getting relationship advice Mac Magill than let the truth out of the deepest, darkest corner of his unspoken thoughts: he loves his boys. All of 'em, jackasses and smartasses, benchwarmers and superstars. He loves them for their occasional moments of sweetness and their constant low-level idiocy; he loves them for the boys they are and for the men they might become. But there are only two of them who've ever made Eric think If I had a son, this is who I'd want him to be. One was Jason Street. The other is hunched over a plate of untouched food, Eric's daughter by his side, politely listening to Buddy Garrity say something or other that's totally out of place. This totally made me bawl my face off at work (much like the episode [spoilers for 4.05 "the Son"]). Fathers and sons, Coach Taylor and Matt Saracen, in the aftermath. *sniffle*

I was always sad the show didn't do more with their relationship, but that's why fandom is so great - we get stories like this to fill that need.

Oh, *heart*. This is exactly the sort of thing the show does so well - throw together two characters you wouldn't expect, and see how they get along. And Tim, for all his *waves hands* issues, is a decent boy at heart. And Lorraine is just heartbreaking. And Matt! I could totally hear Matt in my head. Just perfect.

A really fun crossover in which Dean inherits a wizarding estate and wacky hijinx ensue. The story contains Wincest, but the sex has a coercive element I found exceptionally squicky; since it's also completely unimportant to the plot, you can easily skip it, and the rest of the story is worth doing that. Dean + Hufflepuffs + Goblins = awesome.
